Only 0.19 seconds separated Afton, Minnesota's Jessie Diggins from first and second place in the team sprint Wednesday, but it was Diggins' ski crossing the finish line first for a historic Olympic gold medal.

Diggins and teammate Kikkan Randall are the first U.S. women to medal in an Olympic cross-country skiing event, and the first Americans to win a medal in the sport in 42 years.

We highly recommend you give the replay of the race a watch so you can enjoy the thrilling finish for yourself.

Not only did Diggins win it, she passes Sweden's best sprinter (who won the gold in the individual sprint) in the final stretch.

Just look how insanely close the finish was, with Diggins crossing it first by half of a ski.

"I just felt unstoppable, I am in the best shape of my life right now for sure," Diggins said, via USA Today. "That feeling of crossing the line and having Kikkan tackle me was the coolest thing ever."

Diggins took silver at last year's world championships and Randall was right behind her in third, so they were considered among the top talent at this year's winter games.
