Soccer is coming to Target Field.

The Minnesota United will host Mexican soccer team Club León in a friendly on June 25, marking the first-ever soccer match to be played at the ballpark, the team announced Monday.

Minnesota United President Nick Rogers says the experience for fans will be similar to "what we hope to achieve in our new stadium." (Plans for the stadium recently got approval from the City of St. Paul.)

The field, which will be 109-yards long and 74-yards wide, will be angled with goal lines along the first-base line and the left field wall. (See a map here.) And anyone who goes to the game can expect the "complete Target Field experience," the release notes.

"This is going to be a showcase for us in front of what I expect to be a huge crowd and a preview of the direction that soccer is going in Minnesota," Minnesota United forward Christian Ramirez said in the release.

The match will also see the return of former United player Miguel Ibarra, who was transferred to León last summer, the release says. León is considered one of the most premier soccer teams in the world – the club drew a soldout crowd to the National Sports Center in Blaine last year.

Tickets, which range in price from $19 to $110, go on sale March 24. Minnesota Twins season ticket holders will have the chance to buy earlier through an exclusive presale on March 15.
