Moore's efforts not enough, Sparks ignite with late run

The Minnesota Lynx dropped their second straight game, they fell to the L.A. Sparks 71-63 at Target Center on Tuesday night.

The win locked up a playoff spot for the Sparks and was just the second time the Lynx have been beaten in the Target Center this season.

The Lynx had no answer for LA's Kristi Tolliver, she scored a game-high 29 points and knocked down five three's in the game.

Candace Parker posted a double-double as well for the Sparks, she finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Maya Moore was the only Lynx player in double figures, she finished with 20 points, but the rest of her teammates struggled. Rebekkah Brunson had while Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus had just eight points each.

It was a big night for Moore anyway. The Lynx forward broke the single-season records for points scored.

Moore has averaged more than 24 points a game for the Lynx on the season. She is one of the favorites for the WNBA's MVP, but it wasn't enough on Tuesday night.

The Lynx, who have been good at closing with leads late in a game, allowed the Sparks to put the game away down the stretch with a 9-0 run, in the final 2 minutes.

Tolliver made two key buckets during the stretch – a turn-around jumper to give L.A. the lead and then she buried a three from the top of the key to put Sparks up four at 67-63.

The Lynx (24-8) travel to San Antonio on Friday, before they close out the regular season at home against Tulsa on Saturday.
