MSHSL approves plans for winter sports state tournaments

The Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors has approved plans for winter sports state tournaments, which is music to the ears for student-athletes and families after fall sports went without state tournaments due to a surge of COVID-19 in Minnesota. 

Boys and girls hockey state tournaments will be held at the end of March into early April. Girls hockey quarterfinals will be played March 26-27 followed by boys quarterbacks on March 30-31. Boys and girls semifinals and finals will be played April 1-3, with all games in the state tournament being played at the Xcel Energy Center. 

Boys and girls basketball state tournaments will begin with quarterfinals March 30-31, semifinals April 6-8 and championship games April 9-10. Quarterfinal games will be played at various sites while the semifinals and finals will be held at Target Center.

Gymnastics - March 26-27, Champlin Park High School

Wrestling - March 25-27, at high schools to be determined

Boys Swim/Dive - March 18-20, University of Minnesota Aquatic Center

Dance - March 12-13, Edina High School

Alpine Ski - March 10, Giants Ridge in Bibawik

Nordic Ski - March 12, Giants Ridge in Bibawik
