Minnesota State University, Mankato, officials have announced they will conduct a national search for a football coach to replace Todd Hoffner, who was cleared of child pornography charges and has tried to get his job back, the Mankato Free Press reports.

Acting head coach Aaron Keen will become the interim head coach effective Wednesday, school officials said in a press release. The team had its most successful season ever under Keen, finishing 13-1, and coming within one game of making the NCAA Division II championship game.

Keen has been acting coach since August, when Hoffner was placed on administrative leave prior to the team's season, after video of his naked children was found on his work cellphone. But child pornography charges were later were dropped.

Still, the university did not give Hoffner his job back, instead reassigning him to an assistant athletic director job.

The university just six months ago gave Hoffner a significant raise and a new four-year contract, the Star Tribune noted.

The Free Press and Star Tribune said Hoffner was unavailable for comment Monday. His lawyer told the Star Tribune Hoffner is still fighting to get his job back.
