The North Dakota State University Bison kicked off their 2016 season on Saturday night with a 24-17 overtime win over Charleston Southern. It was the first ever overtime game in the Fargodome's history.
The Bison led by a touchdown late in the 4th quarter but Charleston Southern tied the game with 2:59 left.
With the game tied, the Bison marched back down the field, but quarterback Easton Stick's interception put Charleston in field goal range. However, Jacob Smoak's kick went wide-left as time expired.
On the first play of overtime, running back King Frazier ran 25 yards for a touchdown to give the Bison the lead for good. The win was North Dakota's 43rd consecutive win at home against a non-conference team.
Despite the interception, Stick had a solid game completing 17-27 passes for 194 yards with two touchdowns including this strike to RJ Urzendowski.
