NDSU will not suspend football players in election fraud case
Nine current North Dakota State University football players are among 15 people accused of faking petition signatures to get two measures on the November ballot. NDSU athletic director Gene Taylor tells the Fargo Forum the players will not be suspended from the team.
The Associated Press reports the 15 people were formally charged with a misdemeanor Friday and are scheduled to make their first court appearance next month.
Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem told the AP some names on the petitions were copied from phone books or fabricated.
Meanwhile, the No. 1 ranked Bison football team beat Colorado State University 22-7 on Saturday.
