NFL Power Rankings Week 2: Faith restored after Vikings win

After a bounce-back win over the Detroit Lions, the Vikings find themselves back within a respectable area of this week's NFL power rankings.

Minnesota's Week 3 opponent, San Diego, is ranked just ahead of the Vikings by virtually every vendor. Here's where the Vikings stand in the eyes of the experts.

NFL.com: No. 16

"In Week 1, Vikings fans had to absorb three hours of nothingness in San Francisco. (Seriously, watching any of the Vikes' Super Bowl losses -- twice -- would have been more palatable.) But alas, the Week 2 home opener provided these same fans with great joy! Credit must go to Mike Zimmer's defense, which only allowed 10 points while the contest was still in doubt. Though the box score will tell you Calvin Johnson caught 10 balls, they only went for 83 yards. That's about as much gas mileage as a Honolulu blue '69 GTO."

Yahoo Sports: No. 17

"I got a feeling that "49ers 20, Vikings 3" will be to this season what "Titans 26, Chiefs 10" was to the 2014 season. Just a random, unexplainable outcome in Week 1. I'm fine ignoring the 49ers game and believing again that the Vikings can be good."

SB Nation: No. 13

"The Minnesota Vikings bounced back from a listless Week 1 performance as well, dispatching the division rival Detroit Lions at home. Teddy Bridgewater and, more importantly, Adrian Peterson looked like themselves this week and the optimism around the Vikings is back to preseason levels. Or getting back near it, anyway."

Monday Morning Quarterback: No. 15

"Throwing darts here. Not sure if Vikes are worthy. But at least they handed the ball to the right guy Sunday instead of keeping it away from Adrian Peterson, as they did in Week 1."

Bleacher Report: No. 14

No explanation.
