No Backstrom, no problem: Wild send Jets packing

It was a nice night for Minnesota sports, as the Lynx, Wolves, and your Minnesota Wild were all victorious, the latter victorious 2-1.

Niklas Backstrom, who was held out of the game with a knee injury sustained in the first period of Minnesota's 3-2 loss to Nashville Tuesday, watched Josh Harding fill his skates nicely, stopping 14 Winnipeg shots.

Harding has been lights out at home.

Matt Cooke assisted on the first Wild goal, scored by Jonas Brodin, before netting one of his own in the second off a rebound on a Torrey Mitchell shot.

The only goal Harding surrendered was a 5-on-3 in the first that was finished by Bryan Little, scoring on a deflection in front.

It's the first Wild victory of the season, with the winner coming in the second, a period in which Minnesota has outshot opponents 54-19 this year.

Mike Yeo and Co. are back in action against the Dallas Stars, a 7 p.m. puck drop from the X Saturday.
