U.S. MEN'S CURLING

Tuesday marked the fourth day of the Sochi Winter Olympics, and the second consecutive day of failure for the USA's men's curling team. The group of four Minnesotans John Shuster of Duluth, Jared Zezel of Hibbing, John Landsteiner of Duluth and Jeff Isaacson of Gilbert – was dumped by China by a score of 9-4 at the Ice Cube Curling Center in Sochi.

"We got a little behind the eight-ball again," U.S. team member Jeff Isaacson told USA Curling. "We've been behind in every game. It's just a matter of us getting comfortable out there. We need to dig deep, work hard, and hopefully the 'W's' will start coming."

According to the Duluth News Tribune, the Americans outshot China 87 percent to 80 percent.

The U.S. lost its opening game to Norway on Monday, so they've started their nine-match round-robin portion of the tournament 0-2. They are back in action for their third match of the tourney against Denmark on Wednesday at 9 .m. Sochi time, 11 p.m. Tuesday Central Time.

U.S. WOMEN'S CURLING

The women got off to an 0-2 start with losses to Switzerland and Russia on Monday, and they were destroyed by Great Britain today, 12-3. Great Britain set an Olympic record by scoring on 7 of 8 stones in one round. It had never been done before. BBC announcers said it was an "embarrassment" for the U.S., according to Deadspin. They play again on Wednesday with a match against China at 4 a.m. Central Time.

WOMEN'S CROSS-COUNTRY SPRINT

Afton native Jessie Diggins failed to contend for a medal in her second event of the Olympics – the women's cross-country free sprint. She wasn't expected to make it as far as she did, but ultimately, she was ousted in the quarterfinals. Diggins finished 13th, a little more than 12 seconds behind the gold medal winner.

Diggins will also compete in the women's 4X5-kilometer relay on Saturday, the U.S. women's strongest event.

"I'm so excited, above all for the 4x5-km relay, for us to show the world how strong we are and what strength in depth we have," Diggins said, via the Pioneer Press.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE SNOWBOARDING

Bloomington native Keri Herman failed to reach the podium as she struggled in two qualifying runs today. We have a full feature on Herman right here.
