Wild send Zucker, McMillan back to Iowa; Backstrom day-to-day

That didn't last long.

After just one game the Wild sent forwards Jason Zucker and Carson McMillan back to their AHL affiliate in Iowa, as reported by the Star Tribune.

Michael Russo speculated in his blog after last night's 3-2 loss to Nashville that Zucker played poorly enough that he may have earned a trip back to the minors. McMillan didn't dress for the game. He was up on an emergency basis.

The Wild then called up forward Stephane Veilleux to bolster the forward position. Veilleux played in 21 games for the Wild last season.

Watch out for a potential change to the top line when the Wild hosts Winnipeg Thursday night.

Also, the news on goalie Niklas Backstrom's injury isn't as bad as it looked like it could have been (video below).

No word yet if the Wild will call up Darcy Kuemper to help with goalie depth while Backsrom recovers.
