Ouch: Big Ten writers pick Gophers to finish last

It's Year 3 of Jerry Kill's football coaching tenure at the University of Minnesota -- and most outside observers aren't exactly jumping on the bandwagon.

After posting a 2-6 conference record in 2012, a new poll among Big Ten writers predicts the Gophers will finish last in the Legends Division, behind Iowa.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer published the poll, in which 26 writers were asked to predict the final standings for the upcoming season.

Michigan was picked to win the Legends Division, Ohio State was tabbed as the eventual winner of the Leaders Division.

Last year, Minnesota was 6-7 overall , advancing to the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

The U begins play Aug. 29 at home against UNLV. The conference opener is against Iowa at TCF Bank Stadium on Sept. 28.
