UConn guard Paige Bueckers has made the final watch list for the Wooden Award, given to the top player in women's college basketball.
Bueckers is the only freshman to make the ballot and one of three underclassmen, along with South Carolina forward Aliyah Boston and Stanford guard Haley Jones, to make the final list of 15 players
The Hopkins graduate leads the Huskies in points (19.8 points per game), assists (6.2 APG), steals (2.4 SPG) and 3-point shooting percentage (47.6 percent) this season while helping top-ranked UConn compile a 21-1 record and capture the Big East tournament title.
Bueckers has also made history throughout her freshman campaign joining Maya Moore as the only women to win the Big East player and freshman of the year awards in the same season.
Bueckers will look to add a national championship to her resume later this month as the Huskies enter the NCAA Tournament, which begins on March 21 and 22.
