UConn guard and Hopkins native Paige Bueckers continued her rise to superstardom, scoring a game-high 28 points to lead the Huskies back to the Women's Final Four.
In her latest performance, Bueckers took on the second-seeded Baylor Bears. While Bueckers had nine points in the first quarter, the Bears pulled ahead in the second to take a 39-37 lead into halftime.
Baylor's lead grew to as many points in the third quarter but that's when Bueckers took over.
The freshman helped lead UConn on a 19-0 run to take the lead and capped it off with a three-pointer to put the Huskies ahead by seven with 7:51 remaining.
UConn's lead would grow to nine points with a bucket from Christyn Williams but Baylor battled back to trim the lead to two points on the final possession. Bueckers intercepted the last-second heave from Caitlyn Bickle with 0.8 seconds remaining to help UConn hold on for the 69-67 victory.
Bueckers' performance helped UConn reach the Final Four for the 13th consecutive season, which will be played in San Antonio. The Huskies' next step toward the national title will come on April 2nd against the winner of the Indiana/Arizona matchup on Monday night.
