UConn guard Paige Bueckers set a school record by scoring 24 points in the Huskies' opening-round win over High Point on Sunday evening.
Bueckers' 24 points broke UConn's record for a player in her tournament debut and were the fourth-most by a freshman in school history since 2000. With nine rebounds and six assists, Bueckers helped UConn roll over the Panthers 102-59.
Bueckers has been a superstar for the Huskies this season, winning the Big East freshman and player of the year awards. In addition to taking down several school records throughout the season, Bueckers has led the Huskies to the top overall seed in the NCAA tournament.
While Bueckers' performance was impressive, the real highlight for her was being interviewed by ESPN's Holly Rowe after the game.
"It's a year of firsts, and I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan of Holly Rowe," Paige said during the interview. "It's always been a dream of mine to be interviewed by her after a game, so I'm just excited to be here."
Bueckers will lead the Huskies into a second-round matchup with Syracuse on Tuesday night.
