Painting England purple, Vikings readying for game across the pond

The Minnesota Vikings are in England, getting ready for their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Despite a pair of 0-3 teams getting ready to play the first of two NFL games in England this year, fans are still excited for it.

The Associated Press reports that 84,000 tickets for Sunday's game have already been sold and only single and premium seats are still up for grabs.

It continues to show the growth in popularity of the NFL in England. The NFL will play two games at Wembley this year for the first time, since the league began playing regular season games there in 2007. More NFL games in England are on the way soon.

NBC is reporting that NFL UK managing director Alistair Kirkwood said the NFL will add a third game in 2014. The report indicates Jacksonville will play one game in each of the next four years at Wembley Stadium.

The Vikings arrived in London on Tuesday, and as the designated home team already was spending time meeting fans and school children. Pittsburgh will arrive in London on Friday.

Minnesota tourism officials hope that the game will spark interest amongst the English in Minnesota.

The Vikings and Steelers will kick off at noon CDT from Wembley Stadium, Sunday.
