Parise: Praised today, Mauered tomorrow?

Joe Mauer has had a rough time in a Twins uniform the past 18 months. The former MVP -- a hometown hero who signed a huge contract to stay in Minnesota -- was hurt in 2011, and was booed by fans. Can the same thing happen to the Wild's Zach Parise?

MinnPost writer Pat Borzi has some advice for new Wild signee Zach Parise: Don't get hurt. And if you do -- hope that the Wild don't treat your injury news as the Twins did with Joe Mauer last year when he was ridiculed for having "bilateral leg weakness."

As Borzi put it: "Two years ago, Joe Mauer was the baseball version of Parise, the high-achieving local kid who committed to the local franchise for the long term for big bucks ... Quickly, things turned."
