Morneau: DH for now?

Justin Morneau might be used as a designated hitter more often than a first baseman this season. Doctors have told Morneau that he's more vulnerable to concussion symptoms returning if his body wears down. Morneau is hot over his last three spring games, going 4-9 with two doubles, two homers and five RBI -- all of which he was the Twins' designated hitter.

Twins' Morneau accepts DH role

Justin Morneau fully expected to play first base for the Twins on Opening Day. But the slugger tells the Pioneer Press if it makes more sense for him to be the full time designated hitter, he'll do what's good for the team.

The fact that Justin Morneau has started ten straight spring training games as the Twins' designated hitter could mean Chris Parmelee will be starting at first base when the regular season begins next Friday in Baltimore. Parmelee hit .355 with four home runs and 14 RBI in 21 games for the Twins last season.
