Peace out, pinstripes; Twins making uniform change

The Minnesota Twins are making a change to the their uniforms. According to the Star Tribune, the team will introduce a home uniform minus the pinstripes fans have become accustomed to seeing. Instead of the stripes, the new uniforms will feature the same Kasota gold that last year's MLB All-Star Game uniforms had.

“We know our fans take great pride in the team’s brand and uniforms, and we think they will appreciate this update to our look. We’re excited about it,” said Twins President Dave St. Peter. “And if we’re as successful in changing these uniforms as we were the last time, that’s a good thing, too.”

The team's alternate throwback pinstripe home uniforms will still be used.

The last time the Twins updated their main home uniform, they won the World Series in 1987. The expected change will mark the first time the team's true home uniform will be free of pinstripes. Hardball Talk says the Kasota gold, which is symbolic of the sandstone seen at Target Field, will be a "drop shadow" around the "Twins" lettering on the front of the jersey.

Here's a snapshot from of the uniforms the team has used since arriving in the Twin Cities in 1961.
