Pekovic back at practice, Barea out

The Timberwolves could use Nikola Pekovic's size when they meet the Lakers Friday night at Target Center. He's missed the last two games with a foot injury, but returned to practiced Thursday and expects to play against L.A. The bad news is that J.J. Barea missed practiced and won't play in the game.

Pekovic considering ankle surgery

Nikola Pekovic says he's going to try and play in as many games as he can over the rest of the season, but bone spurs in his right ankle might force him to have off-season surgery. Pekovic has missed four of the Wolves' last five games, and he won't play in the next two games at Memphis and Charlotte.

Nikola Pekovic wants to play every game next season. Doing so will require surgery, on May 15, to clean up bone spurs in his right ankle. "It's the best thing for me to get it done as soon as I can so I can be ready for next season," Pekovic said.

Barea out for Friday's tilt

J.J. Barea is out for Friday night's home game against the Miami Heat. The T-Wolves guard has a strained left hamstring that's still too tight to go full speed on. Barea says he'll definitely be back on the court Sunday when the Wolves host his former team -- the Dallas Mavericks.
