The Twins prevented a series sweep by the Brewers Sunday with a 2-0 win at Target Field, led by starter Mike Pelfrey who pitched eight scoreless innings.

The Brewers had defeated the Twins in the first two games of the weekend series, as the AL Central Division leaders faltered against Milwaukee, which is at the bottom of its division.

Pelfrey is on a roll, posting a 0.96 ERA in 28 innings over four starts, reports.

That brings Pelfrey's ERA this season to 2.28 in 11 starts.

The Twins scored on an RBI double from Eddie Rosario and an RBI triple from Eduardo Escobar off Brewers pitcher Mike Fiers. The Twins couldn't score against reliever Neal Cotts, though.

After the game, the Twins announced they've optioned Danny Santana to Class AAA Rochester, while Kenny Vargas is coming back up.

The Twins sent Vargas down on mid-May to find his groove after a shaky start to the season.

Minnesota starts a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals, who are second in the division, two games behind the Twins.

Twins pitcher Phil Hughes is slated to start. Game begins at 7:10 p.m. Monday at Target Field.
