Friday night was a record setting night, and not the kind that Flip Saunders and the Timberwolves will want to remember. The New Orleans Pelicans pounded the Wolves 139-91.
Jrue Holiday had the hot hand for the Pelicans. He was 9-of-10 from the floor, 2-of-2 from behind the arc and a perfect 4-of-4 from the stripe. Holiday finished with 24 points.
Anthony Davis took advantage of the Wolves not having Young. Davis scored 22 points. Austin Rivers added 17 off the bench for New Orleans, while Ryan Anderson chipped in 16.
Things got off to a bad start for Minnesota and they just didn't get better. The Wolves were outscored 43-19 in the first and had to try to dig their way out of the deficit.
Minnesota's lone bright spot was Andrew Wiggins. The rookie had 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Corey Brewer added 18. Minnesota's other rookie, Zach LaVine scored 13 points, but was just 5-of-12 from the floor and he turned it over three times and didn't have an assist.
The Wolves (2-6) are at Dallas on Saturday night.
