Peterson, Patterson hurt during first day of Vikings training camp

It's probably not what the Vikings were hoping for, but running back Adrian Peterson and wide receiver, kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson both were dealing with injuries on the first day of training camp.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer didn't seem overly concerned about either of them though.

Peterson missed a portion of day one of camp, as he was spotted going through sprints with Vikings trainer Eric Sugarman.

"He tweaked himself a little bit in the offseason," Zimmer told KFAN Friday. "He's going to be fine. He did the conditioning test today. We're just being careful with him."

The injury may be a little more serious for Patterson.

About halfway through practice Patterson left practice after making a tremendous catch on the left sideline after falling on his left arm. Viking Update reports that he hung onto the ball, but immediately started groaning after he landed on the ground.

The Star Tribune captured video of the injury.

Patterson was helped off the field and held his left arm tight to his body. After having it evaluated, he returned to the locker room and did not return to practice.

"He made a great catch and it wasn't his left hand or wrist. I can tell you that," Zimmer told KFAN. "I don't think it's real concerning, but they're taking a look at it."

Patterson has been the talk of the Vikings offseason so far. The Vikings declined the fifth-year option for the former first-round pick. But have credited him for how much work he's put in during the offseason and hoped he'd be able to make an impact on the offense.
