Peyton Manning racks up seven touchdowns, 44 years after a Viking did

Before Peyton Manning was Peyton Manning, Joe Kapp was Peyton Manning, at least for a night.

Thursday, Manning and the Broncos executed a systematic thrashing of the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens, a 49-27 destruction of Joe Flacco and Co., redemption for the orange and blue's AFC semifinal loss to Baltimore last year, the last time Denver had suited up. In Denver's long awaited rematch, Manning threw for an NFL record seven touchdowns.

Sunday, September 28, 1969, The Vikings mopped the floor with the defending champion Baltimore Colts, 52-14. On that day, Kapp threw for an NFL record seven touchdowns.

Until last night, Kapp was the most recent QB to reach seven TDs, with Y.A. Tittle, George Blanda, Sid Luckman, and Adrian Burk reaching seven prior to "Nutty Joe." Now the soon-to-be Hall of Famer Manning joins the prestigious club.

As for Kapp's career, it may not be as notable as Manning's, as he spent just four years in the NFL, but until a quarterback reaches eight touchdowns in a game, they will forever be mentioned in the same breath.

We'll mention him as "Nutty Joe" when prompted to discuss Kapp's greatness, here's an explanation of the nickname, and a full profile of the former CFL star and Vikings signal-caller. Below that is a highlight package of Kapp's game.
