Pino sharp in debut, Twins snap 5 game skid

The Minnesota Twins scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to snap their five-game losing streak, with a 4-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Joe Mauer doubled to score Danny Santana and give the Twins the 3-2 lead. Kurt Suzuki then drove in Brian Dozier on a sacrifice fly to push the Twins lead to two. Mauer's double was the third of three consecutive hits for the Twins in the eighth.

Mauer finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Santana scored a pair of runs for the Twins.

The wait for Yohan Pino to make his Major League debut was a little longer than it was supposed to be. Pino, who spent 10 years and 38 days in the minors, had to wait over two hours, because of a rain delay.

But that didn't bother the 30-year-old rookie. Pino went seven innings, and gave up a pair of runs to get a quality start. Pino struck out seven and walked one.

Pino replaced Samuel Deduno in the rotation, he was 9-1 with a 1.92 ERA at Class Triple-A Rochester, before arriving in Minnesota.

Casey Fien bounced back after blowing a save in Boston on Wednesday, to pitch a scoreless eighth.

Glen Perkins took the ninth to get the save, his 18th of the season.
