The Twins activated infielders Trevor Plouffe and Eduardo Nunez from the disabled list, prior to their series opener with Kansas City, on Monday.

Both Plouffe and Nunez have missed the last 14 games after getting hurt on June 14, against Detroit.

Plouffe was on the 15-day DL with a rib injury, while Nunez returns from a brief four-game rehab assignment at Double-A New Britain, following a right hamstring strain.

During the rehab assignment, Nunez was 4-for-10 with three walks and a triple.

Plouffe was hitting .241 with five home runs and 38 RBIs in 64 games. He was also among the league leaders in doubles with 22, before the injury.

Nunez has hit .290 with 11 RBIs in 25 games with the Twins. He was acquired from the Yankees in a trade on April 7.

To make room for both Plouffe and Nunez the Twins optioned Jorge Polanco to Class A Ft. Myers and optined infielder Pedro Florimon to Triple-A Rochester.

In eight games back with the Twins, Florimon continued to struggle at the plate. He was 0-for-11. Florimon has just 7 hits in 76 at bats on the season (,092).

Polanco made his Major League debut against the Angels on Thursday, he was 2-for-5 in four games.
