Plouffe returns with two-run homer, three hits to help Twins top Tigers, 6-3

After 22 days on the DL, the Twins' Trevor Plouffe returned in fine fashion, hitting a two-run shot and scoring a crucial go-ahead run as Minnesota beat Detroit 6-3 Saturday evening at Target Field.

Plouffe, returning after a concussion and a calf injury, collected three hits and knocked in 3 RBI. His homer in the 4th inning scored Justin Morneau and tied the game after Jhonny Peralta singled in Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera in the top of the inning.

After a double by Plouffe in the 6th inning, Chris Parmalee singled him in as the Twins took a 3-2 lead. Joe Mauer then singled to left, scoring Chris Parmelee and Brian Dozier with two outs, according to the Sports Network.

Plouffe then singled to center to score Oswaldo Arcia for an insurance run for the Twins, who rebounded from a loss the night before to even the series at 1-1.

Samuel Deduno (3-1) pitched 7 innings -- a rarity for Twins starters -- giving up 2 runs with a walk and two strikeouts for the win. Jared Burton pitched the 8th, allowing one unearned run, before Glen Perkins closed the door on Detroit, picking up his 16th save of the season.

Rubber match is a Father's Day game Sunday at 1:10 p.m. at Target Field.
