Ponder says shoulder injury won't keep him out against Seattle

A dislocated shoulder might not be enough to keep Christian Ponder out against the Seahawks this coming Sunday in Seattle.

Ponder suffered the injury while diving for the goal line in the Vikings' 34-27 win over Washington last Thursday. He's been working hard with the team's medical staff to get back into playing shape.

"I got treatment every day except Sunday," Ponder said, via the Pioneer Press. "Things are feeling better."

“It’s not like hindering my throwing motion or anything,” Ponder said, as reported by the Star Tribune. “It’s just being able to take a hit or something. We don’t have fear that it’s going to get worse. It’s just going to be able to handle the pain and if I can do it than I’ll play.”

The Star Tribune also reports that head coach Leslie Frazier will only allow Ponder to play if his arm strength is up to par.

“You don’t want to put him in harm’s way,” Frazier said during his Monday press conference at Winter Park in Eden Prairie. “If he can’t protect himself you wouldn’t want to put him out there. So we’ll have a better when we come back on Wednesday and start practicing. He’s made progress, which is encouraging.”
