Week 1 of the high school football season blew by so fast that fall roughed up summer, took its lunch money and started walking towards winter. Week 2 of the action is tonight and there are a bevy of great games across the state. Here's our look at our top five.

5. Willmar at Brainerd

Brainerd has owned Willmar, and most Central Lakes Conferences teams, for a very long time. According to the West Central Tribune, Willmar beat the Warriors twice in the 1990s and again in 2000. They haven't beaten legendary coach Ron Stolski's team since. Will tonight be the night?

4. Rushford-Peterson at Caledonia

The Rochester Post-Bulletin says Rushford-Peterson has the look of a state power, beating defending Class 2A champion Chatfield in its opener. The test is a bit harder tonight as they go up against Caledonia, proud owner of the label "best team in 2A over the last decade."

3. ACGC at Paynesville

Former player turned coach David Blom leads the Falcons in his second career game, in search of his second career win. Paynesville boasts star quarterback Matthew Quade, who threw for nearly 300 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs' win over BOLD last week. Paynesville coach Max Meagher said their first two games of the season are against "contenders," according to the St. Cloud Times.

2. White Bear Lake at Mounds View

White Bear Lake snapped a long losing streak by blowing out the Mustangs in Week 7 of last season, only to get knocked out of the playoffs by Mounds View a few weeks later. The Pioneer Press says it's one of tonight's "best bets."

1. East Ridge at Cretin-Derham Hall

This is the game of the week. Defensive end Jashon Cornell of Cretin-Derham Hall will play his college football at Ohio State. Tonight, though, he'll be chasing down 6-foot-4 quarterback Seth Green. Green, a 210-pound junior, has received a box full of Division I scholarships, including one from Oregon.

At this time last year, Cornell was the ESPN Recruiting Nation's No. 1 player in the Class of 2015. He's since fallen, but his goals remain lofty.

“At home, I’ve got a lot of goals I want to accomplish this year,” he told the Star Tribune. “I want to get 24 sacks, win a state championship and win Mr. Football. I think I can get those. I don’t have to worry about recruiting anymore.”

Catch the call of the games online

In the metro, 106.1 BOB FM is always a great starting point. Tonight, they'll have the contest between Andover and Elk River. You can also catch the game and many more at MSBNSports.net.

Our radio affiliate KYMN in Northfield will have the call of the Northfield hosting Mankato West – a game that features some of the best talent in the state.
