Randall Cunningham owns 16 years worth of NFL memorabilia.

Almost all of it is being auctioned off. But unlike many athletes, Cunningham isn't saving himself from a financial disaster; he's raising money for his church.

"I was told, don't forget where you came from," Cunningham said this week, as noted by 1500 ESPN. "For a while, I didn't understand what that meant. I thought that meant, remember you're from Santa Barbara, California. But realistically what it meant was, remember the people who poured into you and gave to you, so you can go back and help them."

Cunningham is the pastor at Cunningham Remnant Ministries in Las Vegas. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be used to help pay for a $6.2 million renovation project designed to improve the quality of life for kids in Las Vegas.

The report notes that Cunningham's merchandise includes almost all trophies, game-worn jerseys and helmets.

"Cunningham has put up items that include his Bert Bell Most Valuable Player Awards for 1988, 1990, and 1998 (estimated $10,000 to $20,000 each); jerseys from the 1980s and 1990s (estimated at $1,000 to $5,000 each); and former Eagles teammate Reggie White's 1992 game-used jersey (estimated $10,000 to $20,000 each). Cunningham, who threw for 29,979 yards and rushed for another 4,929 yards, played for Philadelphia, Minnesota, Dallas and Baltimore."

Cunningham's three seasons in Minnesota (1997-99) were highlighted by his remarkable 1998 campaign. Cunningham threw for more than 3,700 yards with 34 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. The Vikings became the third team in NFL history to go 15-1 in the regular season; they also became the first of those to fail to win the Super Bowl, much less get there as they lost in heartbreaking fashion to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship game.

Bids can be entered beginning at 2 p.m. CT on Jan. 31. Learn more about how to bid at HuntAuctions.com.
