While the Gophers men's basketball team has disappointed fans this season, the Gopher women are starting to play like a team on a mission to make some noise in the NCAA Tournament.
Their latest victory came Sunday afternoon. But it wasn't any old win. The Gophers completely demolished 10th-ranked Maryland, the Big Ten's top team.
Final score: Gophers 93, Maryland 74.
Minnesota was on fire from three, cashing in on 14-of-24 from beyond the arc.
The Gophers have now won seven of their last eight to improve to 21-6 overall and 10-4 in the Big Ten, which is tied for third in the conference with Nebraska.
Ohio State (10-3) sits in second place with Maryland in first (11-3).
Minnesota closes the regular season with games Tuesday versus Indiana and next Sunday at Illinois. The Big Ten Tournament starts Feb. 28 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
