Former NFL safety Darren Sharper, who played four seasons with the Vikings (2005-08), had rape charges filed against him in Las Vegas on Friday, the Associated Press reports.
Sharper's attorney appeared before a Las Vegas judge for a hearing on two sexual assault charges stemming from a January 2014 incident.
Sharper, 39, was also facing sexual assault charges in New Orleans, Los Angeles and the greater Phoenix area. However, according to the New Orleans Advocate, Sharper is attempting to cut plea deals in the New Orleans and Los Angeles cases. The report adds that the deals appear "to be part of a global deal to wrap up all of the cases against Sharper."
Sharper remains jailed in Los Angeles, where he's been since being arrested Jan. 17.
According to Pro Football Reference, in 62 games with the Vikings, Sharper intercepted 18 passes, three of which he returned for touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2005; one of five career Pro Bowl selections.
