Phoenix Suns forward Michael Beasley -- who played for the Timberwolves for two years -- was arrested by police in Scottsdale, Ariz., early Tuesday on suspicion of marijuana possession according to KTAR-FM radio.

According to police, Beasley, 24, was stopped for a traffic violation.

As the officer approached the vehicle, he smelled marijuana from within the car.

A search of the driver's area recovered three joints.

It's not Beasley's first brush with the law.

In June of 2011, for example, Beasley was driving in Minnetonka when he was pulled over for speeding. The officer allegedly found marijuana in the car. Beasley said the marijuana was not his, but belonged to a friend. Beasley was consequently fined and ticketed.

After he signed with Phoenix, Beasley told reporters: "Ten minutes of feeling good is not really worth putting my life and my career and my legacy in jeopardy. So I'm confident to say that part of my career, that part of my life, is over and won't be coming back."
