Report: Former Viking Williams visits Seattle

Former Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams visited the defending Superbowl Champion Seattle Seahawks on Monday.

Williams, a six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle, was not re-signed by the Vikings following the end of the 2013 season.

According to NFL.com, even though Williams is past his prime, he fits Seattle's profile as a value signing who could play key snaps as part of a defensive line rotation.

Seattle's physical defense relied heavily on impressive performances from veteran defensive linemen Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril. Both were signed at bargain basement prices last year, but made big impacts in limited roles.

Williams can still get the job done. He notched 29 tackles and had 3.5 sacks for the Vikings in 2013. Around the League has the 33-year-old Williams ranked sixth on their best available free agents' list.

Earlier this month, Williams visited the New York Giants, but left without a contract.

Pro Football Talk reports if Seattle were to add Williams, he would likely join Jordan Hill, Tony McDaniel and Brandon Mebane as a primary option at defensive tackle. As a result, Williams, who played 746 snaps with the Vikings last year, would likely see a reduction in snaps.

Seattle has become a popular landing spot for many former Vikings, including receivers Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice, along with special team standout Heath Farwell.

Over his 11 year career for the Vikings, Williams recorded 463 tackles and recorded 60 sacks.
