It looks punt returner Marcus Sherels will be returning to the Minnesota Vikings.

According to the Pioneer Press' Chris Tomasson, a source indicates that Sherels has agreed to contract terms with the Vikings.

It's hard to imagine Sherels playing anywhere else in the NFL. He is a Rochester native and played for the Gophers, while in college.

Sherels has worked his way up in the NFL. He made the Vikings practice squad as an undrafted free agent in 2010 and played in one game for Minnesota late that season.

However, the 5-foot-10 defensive back has played in every game for the Vikings over the last five seasons. While he has seen some time as a cornerback, he has developed himself into one of the top punt returners in the NFL.

Pro Football Talk notes that Sherels had a visit with the New York Jets Thursday after they released their primary punt returner Jeremy Kerley Wednesday.

Sherels has returned punts for touchdowns in three of the last four seasons and averaged over 10 yards per return over the course of his career.
