Matt Kalil's up and down career with the Minnesota Vikings appears to be over.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Kalil will sign with the Carolina Panthers when the free agency signing period begins at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Kalil's brother, Ryan Kalil, is Carolina's starting center.

Minnesota drafted Kalil fourth overall in the 2012 draft and in five seasons with the Vikings he ranged from very good to very bad – and often injured.
