Report: Vikings sign J'Marcus Webb to replace injured Phil Loadholt

The Minnesota Vikings reportedly have added some help to the offensive line following right tackle Phil Loadholt's season-ending injury.

According to The Viking Age, the team will sign J'Marcus Webb and place Loadholt on injured reserve.

The team has not confirmed the news yet.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that Loadholt would undergo surgery on Friday. He suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Minnesota's loss to Green Bay on Sunday.

Webb returns to the Vikings after working out along with former Texans offensive tackle Eric Winston on Tuesday. He was a seventh round pick in 2010 out of West Texas A&M, and spent three seasons with the Bears before he signed with the Vikings in 2013.

Pro Football Talk notes that Webb appeared in eight games with the Vikings last season and made one start.

The Vikings are likely to start Mike Harris at right tackle in place of Loadholt, but Webb could add depth to a spot where the Vikings are thin. They have lost both Loadholt and starting guard Brandon Fusco for the season.

Harris has appeared in 27 regular season games and made 12 starts in his career, but Sunday will be his first as a Viking.
