The big question in Vikings country right now is what the Vikings are planning to do by interviewing Pat Shurmur.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that the Vikings plan to interview the former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator, who was let go earlier this week.

ESPN reports the interview with Shurmer will take place Friday.

But the only current opening on the Vikings' offensive staff is the running backs coaching job that was vacated by Kirby Wilson, who took a job with the Cleveland Browns. According to Pro Football Talk, Shurmur has never coached running backs, leading to speculation that Minnesota might have a different title in mind for Shurmur.

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said last week that he expects to bring offensive coordinator Norv Turner back next season – and FOX Sports' Alex Marvez says Turner is not retiring – so we'll have to wait and see what the Vikings have in mind for Shurmur.

Rapoport added that Shurmur also has drawn interest from two other teams.

Shurmur was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 2011-2012. If he signs with Minnesota he'll join Mike Zimmer, Turner and new offensive line coach Tony Sparano as coaches with head coaching experiencing on the staff.
