Report: Vikings won't pursue Manning

It looks like the Vikings won’t be in the hunt to sign Peyton Manning. The Pioneer Press is quoting sources who say the team has no interest in bringing in the 14-year Super Bowl-winning veteran. The Vikes say they’ll move ahead with Christian Ponder and Joe Webb instead.

Leslie Frazier announced Thursday that Christian Ponder is the Vikings starting quarterback. It isn't breaking news, but it takes pressure off the second-year QB. Ponder says the game has "really slowed down" since last year. Frazier agrees, saying Ponder's "decision-making has gotten a lot better."

Vikes have seen QB controversy before

The battle between Christian Ponder and Joe Webb will likely rage on until the start of next season. But quarterback controversies are nothing new to Minnesota. Ex-Viking quarterbacks Jeff George, Randall Cunningham, Wade Wilson, Rich Gannon, Warren Moon and Tommy Kramer have all been involved in controversies of their own.
