Report: Wild trade player, picks for Columbus defenseman David Jiricek
The Minnesota Wild have reportedly agreed to a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets for standout defenseman David Jiricek.
Frank Seravalli is reporting that Minnesota is receiving Jiricek and a 2025 fifth-round pick in exchange for forward Daemon Hunt along with a 2025 first-round pick, Colorado’s 2026 third-round pick, and second and fourth-round picks in 2027.
Jiricek was the sixth overall pick in 2022.
Jiricek, who turned 21 on Thanksgiving Day, is a tank. He's 6-foot-4 and more than 200 pounds. In addition to elite defensive skills, he also has 14 goals and 45 assists in 86 games in the American Hockey League. He has 53 games of NHL experience but has just 11 points in those opportunities.
This is a developing story.
