Imagine a Timberwolves team with a new-look frontcourt.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Wolves are trying to "crawl of the mat" and trade for a big man.

"The word on the street is the Wolves are starting to call around and looking to trade for frontcourt help," Windhorst said on the TrueHoop podcast. "They signed Jordan Hill in the offseason, he doesn't play. Aldrich doesn't play that much and Nemanja Bjelica is banged up and they've been playing him as their backup forward. I watched them the other day and they played Adriean Payne at backup power forward and it did not go well ... at all."

Payne plays just 9 minutes a game while Aldrich averages 13.2 minutes and Bjelica gets just over 16 minutes a night.

Windhorst said the Orlando Magic are looking for a point guard, but he didn't link the Wolves to the Magic in any potential deal.

Hoops Rumors thinks it'll be hard for Minnesota to upgrade its depth at power forward and center. But it could help that after Dec. 15, offseason signees Cole Aldrich, Jordan Hill, John Lucas III and Brandon Rush can be traded.

The Wolves made a run at Pau Gasol in the offseason only to come up short. Gasol signed with the Spurs for less money, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

“I think a player like that, he’s looking for an opportunity to be part of a championship team,” Thibodeau told the paper last week. “When the Spurs came along, he saw that as a better fit for him at this stage of his career.”
