Reports: Chelsea, A.C. Milan to play at U.S. Bank Stadium in August

Luke Bryan is going to be the first concert played at U.S. Bank Stadium when it opens this summer, but before he starts belting country tunes, the stadium is going to play host to two of the biggest soccer teams on the planet.

According to Northern Pitch, Chelsea and A.C. Milan will hook up in early August in what should draw a monstrous crowd at the new multipurpose Vikings' stadium. Chelsea plays in England's Premier League while AC Milan is a giant in the Italian Serie A league.

Go 96.3 morning co-host and avid soccer aficionado Dana Wessel was the first to break the story when he reported last Saturday that Chelsea was coming to Minnesota.

Wessel added that it will likely be a mid-week game to coincide with Chelsea's natural schedule of playing once on the weekend and one time during the middle of the week.

The game will be a preseason match for Chelsea and A.C. Milan, with their regular seasons beginning in mid-August. The English Premier League season starts Aug. 13 and the Italian Serie A begins a week later.

Combined, the two clubs have more than 230 million fans worldwide, Northern Pitch says.

U.S. Bank Stadium seats 66,200 fans.
