It appears the Minnesota Twins are looking for more than just a replacement for recently fired general manager Terry Ryan.

According to FOX's Ken Rosenthal, the Twins are looking to hire a President of Baseball Operations, not just their next GM.

While Dave St. Peter currently holds the title of team president, the blog Twinkie Town notes there is no indication that St. Peter is on his way out.

Instead the president of baseball operations would be more involved in helping build the roster and evaluating the rest of the organization's front office.

The common belief is the Twins are looking to hire someone from outside of the organization to bring some fresh ideas to the team. The team hired the search firm Korn Ferry to assist – it's the same group that helped the Timberwolves get Tom Thibodeau hired as head coach and president of basketball operations.

ESPN 15oo columnist Derek Wetmore notes that it's a concept that Major League teams have been going to more frequently over the years.

It's way too soon to know what any of this might mean for interim GM Rob Antony.

But MLBTradeRumors.com thinks the two-tiered approach may help carve out a role to keep him in the organization.
