Rhodes cleared from concussion, will play against Broncos

Good news for the health of Xavier Rhodes and the fortune of the Minnesota Vikings.

Rhodes was cleared for practice Wednesday, just three and a half days removed from a hit that left him lying motionless on the turf at TCF Bank Stadium. He was diagnosed with a concussion but has since passed the NFL's mandatory concussion protocol.

"He's good," head coach Mike Zimmer announced.

Rhodes will have a difficult job this week covering Broncos star wideouts Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, who have a combined 46 catches for more than 500 yards and 3 touchdowns in three games this season.

“I’m always concerned about my players any time they get hurt,” Zimmer said, via the Star Tribune. “But Xavier’s pretty tough. He’s pretty tough. So I knew he’d be alright.”

A injury update on wide receiver Charles Johnson wasn't available, the Pioneer Press reports. Johnson injured his ribs against the Chargers and missed the majority of the game.
