Rising Twins prospect crushes 3 homers in Saints debut

And he did it on his 23rd birthday!
José Miranda

Top Minnesota Twins prospect José Miranda had a spectacular night in his Triple-A debut, crushing three homers in the St. Paul Saints' 15-4 victory over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Tuesday night.

Celebrating his 23rd birthday, Miranda quickly acclimated himself to CHS Field with a solo home run in his first at-bat.

Hitting a home run is a great way to celebrate a birthday but Miranda took it a step further by crushing a grand slam in his second at-bat.

Miranda continued to collect home runs like birthday candles, hitting a solo home run in the fifth inning to finish the night with five hits and a career-high 6 RBI.

The No. 16 overall prospect in the Twins organization per MLB.com, Miranda was called up after hitting .345/.408/.588 with 13 homers and 38 RBI in 47 games at Double-A Wichita.

His numbers are a huge jump from the 2019 season, where he hit .252/.302/.369 with eight homers between High-A Fort Meyers and Double-A Pensacola.

A second-round pick by the Twins in the 2016 MLB Entry Draft, Miranda has played first, second and third base this season, which could signal a utility role if he's called up.

If Miranda continues to hit like this, there's a chance Twins fans won't have to wait long to see him make his major league debut.
