The Colorado Rockies beat the Minnesota Twins 6-2 on Friday night in Denver.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Twins in Seattle.

Colorado smacked three home runs, in the game. Two of those homers came off Twins starter Kris Johnson.

The Rockies got to Johnson early, Drew Stubbs hit a two-run home run in the first inning. Stubbs' home run put the Rockies up 2-0 before Johnson recorded his first out.

The Twins tried to answer back in the second. Trevor Plouffe led off the second inning with a double. Eduardo Nunez drove him in, to cut the lead 2-1.

But the Rockies got the run back in the bottom of the second, then in the third Troy Tulowitzki homered to give the Rockies a 5-1 lead.

The game stay that way until the seventh when pinch hitter Brandon Barnes homered off Matt Guerrier. That pushed the lead to 6-1.

The Twins got one run back when Nunez drove in Plouffe on a ground ball, but they couldn't get any closer.

The series continues Saturday in Denver.

  • Former Twins watch: Justin Morneau was 0-for-4
  • LaTroy Hawkins through a scoreless ninth for the Rockies, but didn't get a save.
