Rumor has it that Wiggins will compete in the Dunk Contest
This one didn't slip south of the border until 1500 ESPN picked up the story on Thursday, but it appears there's a pretty good chance Timberwolves star rookie Andrew Wiggins will be part of the NBA All-Star Weekend.
Let's backtrack to the original report, which came from Hoops Hype Canada on Tuesday. Wiggins, a native of Vaughn, Ontario, will be competing in the Slam Dunk Competition, according to his father, Mitchell Wiggins.
1500 ESPN points out a slight error in the original report. The dunk contest will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn – home of Kevin Garnett and the Nets – on Febraury 14. The actual All-Star Game will be played February 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
There's also a good chance Wiggins will be on the Rookie Team for the Sophomore-Rookie game.
The field for the dunk contest has not been announced. Fellow Wolves rookie Zach LaVine has also been rumored as a potential dunk contestant. Wiggins, for sure though, can throw it down with the best of them. James Harden of the Rockets got a first-hand look at Wiggins' ability in a game earlier this season.
