Santana fires first complete game shutout for Twins in 3 years

Minnesota Twins starter Ervin Santana was dealing on Wednesday afternoon. He threw his best game as a member of the Minnesota Twins tossing a complete game shutout and leading the Twins to a 3-0 victory over Oakland.

It is the first complete game shutout for the Twins since Andrew Albers accomplished it in 2013.

Santana held the A's to just two-hits, while striking out a season-high eight hitters. He faced just one batter over the minimum, and threw just 100 pitches in the effort.

It was Santana's first complete game shutout since he pitched for the Angels in 2012.

While it was the top pitching performance of the season for the Twins pitching staff, it may have helped Santana's value on the trade market more than anything. He has been mentioned as one of the top arms available before the Major League Trade Deadline on July 31st.

Danny Santana led the Twins at the plate, he finished 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.

The Twins open a series in Texas on Thursday.
