Say what? Of all teams, the Giants want to work out Josh Freeman?

Remember that time Josh Freeman played for the Vikings? He played in just one game after signing in the early stages of last season, so it's not hard to recall.

The game he played was historic ... on many awful levels. Freeman threw the football 53 times, completing only 20 for 190 yards, no touchdowns and one interception a in a 23-7 loss to the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

His Vikings debut was his Vikings finale. He suffered a concussion in the game and finished the season sitting on the bench behind Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel.

Business Insider reported at the time that Freeman was just the fifth quarterback since 1960 to throw at least 50 passes in a game and finish with less than 200 yards. His 37.7 percent completion percentage was the lowest for a quarterback with at least 40 attempts since Eli Manning threw up a 34 percent game in 2007. He overthrew his receiver 16 times. ESPN said it was the most by a quarterback since the NFL began tracking the stat in 2005.

Oh, and his Quarterback Rating was 6.1. That's on a scale of 0-100, so really, it was a bad day at the office.

Considering that the Giants got a first-hand look at how bad Freeman was, it's kind of ironic that they are going to bring Freeman in for a workout, according to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report.

According to the Star Ledger, the Giants are known for giving former highly touted draft picks second, or even third chances, to succeed in the NFL. In addition, Giants quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan used to coach Freeman when he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio says Freeman could be a solid backup plan if Eli Manning's arthroscopic surgery slows him down, which isn't expected to be the case.

The Chicago Bears are the only other team Freeman has worked out for.
