The struggles continued for the Twins, Monday night. They fell to the Seattle Mariners 2-0 at Safeco Field.

It was the start of the final seven-game road trip before the All-Star break.

Minnesota still had no answer for Hishashi Iwakuma. The Seattle starter threw seven scoreless innings, Monday night leading the Mariners to the victory.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a solo home run from Mike Zunino off of Twins starter Kevin Correia (4-11). It was the only run Correia gave up until the seventh inning.

The Twins missed a golden opportunity in the top of the seventh inning. Trailing 1-0, with runners on second and third and just one out, the Twins were not able to capitalize.

Chris Colabello hit a weak grounder to third that couldn't score pinch runner Chris Parmelee and Sam Fuld struck out to end the threat.

It turned out to be the only time in the game the Twins advanced a runner to second base.

Michael Saunders then hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to extend the Mariners lead.

The story of the game was Iwakuma and the rest of the Mariners pitching staff. He along with relievers Danny Farquhar and Fernando Rodney struck out 14 Twins hitters.

Correia was tagged with the loss. He gave up just two runs on five hits in seven innings. He has not received a lot of run support in his most recent starts, the Twins have gotten just eight runs during Correia's last six starts.

According to the Star Tribune, Correia has posted a 2.43 ERA over those last six starts, but is just 2-4 in those games.
